BECOME AN ALLY, ADVOCATE, MENTOR FOR YOUTH
We are CaLiCo Youth Services, and we are a nonprofit organization that works with elementary school students from the Redwood City School District (in the Bay Area of California). We provide a variety of services including mental health resources, tutoring, and mentorship to our students.
We want to build a network of caring mentors that our students can rely on throughout their school experience, and beyond. We can’t do it without volunteers like you!
What is the commitment?
-
One mandatory training session (2 hours)
-
Meetings with students 1-2 times a week. Meetings are in person, at the school site, after school.
-
Regular, online, volunteer check-in meetings. These meetings are at most one hour long.
Will this cost me money?
Nope! We cover the cost for educational materials that you might use for tutoring. We would just like you to donate your time and love!
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for high school students (16+), college students, and recent college graduates, and community members in the Bay Area. We want mentors who are excited about learning and meeting our students. Feel free to pass this message around to anyone else you know, who may be interested!
Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. We will ask you to get fingerprinted and take a tuberculosis test. All volunteers must be vaccinated against COVID19.
I’m nervous, I haven't done this before
Don’t be nervous! The other mentors and CaLiCo administrators will be with you every step of the way! We just want you to be your authentic self, and make a connection with your student.
We would love to have you!
If you are interested, please fill out this Google Form or contact us at info@calicoyouth.org. We will then contact you to set up a chat with us to discuss this further.
